Mr. Bathgate's House of Knowledge

Welcome to Mr. Bathgate's House of Knowledge, where you will learn ... guaranteed.  I'm very happy to be teaching at Mechanicsburg Area Senior High after growing up in the district, and raising my daughter in the district as well.  What a great community!!  This is my first year with the district, but I bring a vast amount of experience and knowledge from previous teaching positions in diverse environments.  My only requirement is that you try anything that I ask you to try, and put your best effort into trying to make yourself the best that you can be.
A little bit about myself -
I moved with my parents to Mechanicsburg when I was 13-years-old.  I attended the Middle School (when it was still on Elmwood) and 9th grade at the High School where I ran track and threw javelin.  I attended 10th through 12th grade at Bible Baptist High School (now West Shore Christian Academy) where I played soccer, basketball, baseball, and ran track.  For my undergraduate degree, I attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  I then began teaching in the Harrisburg School District's Alternative Program in 2001.  While at Harrisburg, I obtained my Master's degree in Special Education from Temple University.  After Harrisburg, I taught for Milton Hershey, West Shore School District, and Dauphin County Technical School.  In total, I have taught for 18 years.
I have a wonderful wife and a fantastic daughter (who is currently a Senior at MASH).  I have a dog, cat, 2 chinchillas, and a rabbit.  I like to do a little fishing in the Summer, and a little hunting in the Fall and Winter.  I enjoy a good video game every now and then too.  I returned to Mechanicsburg (Upper Allen Twp) 11 years ago, and I plan to be here a while longer.
This year (2019 - 2020), I will be teaching Pre-Algebra, Algebra Part 1, Algebra Part 2, Foundations of Math, Math Foundtions II and Math Foundations III.  I'm really excited to see how the year goes!!!
