World Cultures

World Cultures is a one-credit course that aims to empower emerging global citizens to have a deeper understanding of the human experience. Students will examine major geographical, cultural and historical themes in addition to the current issues of different regions throughout the world.  Students will frequently apply their knowledge and skills to the overarching question: How has the human experience changed and continued over time and place? 

 

By the conclusion of the World Cultures course, students will be able to:

  • Practice and recognize world geography, including the effects of landforms and climate.
  • Compare differing world religions and cultures.
  • Discuss current events in the world.
  • Apply study skills, creativity, speaking and writing skills throughout this course.
  • Analyze and evaluate different social, political, and economic systems in the world.
  • Compare the diverse culture of the United States to the many peoples we will study.
  • Determine vital unifying cultural themes.
  • Examine the phenomenon and development of globalization.
