MASH English Department Grading Policy

As the new school year begins, the English Department would like all students and parents to be aware of the grading policy for assignments and late work. Since we encourage the students at MASH to be reliable, responsible, and accountable, we feel that a uniform policy for all English courses is essential.

Assigned work: This would include homework, reading assignments, formal essays, projects, etc. When the assignment is turned in at the beginning of the class period on the date it is due, the student will receive full credit for the points earned on the assignment.
Late Work: Late assignments will result in a 50% reduction of the points earned by the student per day. Thus, an assignment turned in two days late will receive a score of zero.
Make-up work due to absence: Students need to make arrangements with the teacher within two days of an excused absence as to when they will be making up a missed assignment, quiz, or test. If, after two days, no arrangements have been made, the student will receive a zero for the missing work.
