Students participating in a science project.

(Special thanks to MASH Senior Gavin Thomas for the wonderful photo from last year's STEM Summit.)

Dear Wildcat Families,

We need your help! On December 9th and 10th, Junior Achievement of South Central PA will be at our high school with their STEM Summit Program. We are dividing up the 9th grade class into two groups, each group spending a day with our STEM activities in the Wildcat Activities Center. All students in 9th grade will be participating in the day-long event designed to explore careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

The goal of the STEM Summit is to inspire students to pursue an academic STEM focus in the remainder of their high school courses. After the completion of the STEM Summit, school counselors have a foundation to work with students on appropriate course work. For this day to be a success, we will need volunteers to facilitate one of the STEM activities for the day as students rotate through your station. You do not need to have a STEM background to be a great volunteer. If we do not have these volunteer spots filled, we are in danger of not being able to run this meaningful event. We've had outstanding success over the last two years running this event at MASH. Please also share this opportunity with friends, neighbors, and colleagues who may be interested in helping our students. Please click this link for your consideration to sign-up. We are looking to secure our much needed volunteer team prior to Thanksgiving.

You do not need to be a an approved school volunteer to help with this day. Junior Achievement will provide online training as well as on-site support to all volunteers. A light breakfast and lunch will also be available for volunteers. Please consider volunteering and join us as we spend the day empowering and inspiring our students. This opportunity is only possible with the support of wonderful volunteers like you. Should you have any questions about the event, please contact Shannon Baker, Senior Vice President Program Operations as jbaker@jascpa.org.

With gratitude to our community,

Joseph Reidy
