AP Art History traces the development of human artistic endeavors from Prehistoric art to Contemporary art. This course prepares students for college level courses by making demands on them equal to those of full-year college introductory courses. The course requires extensive reading, discussion and analysis of works of art. Art is studied and analyzed in its historical, political, and religious context. Students will develop skills necessary to arrive at conclusions on the basis of an informed judgment and present reasons and evidence clearly and persuasively in an essay format.
Students interested in taking AP Art History are required to meet with the teacher of AP Art History to review the course requirements and obtain summer assignments.
Students may take the Advanced Placement test to apply for college credit.
