PHOTOGRAPHY III

7527          Grade 12               .25 Credit       1 Year                                         2 Periods/Cycle

Prerequisite:  An 85% cumulative average in Photography II is required.  Each student will need his/her own camera (35 mm, manually operated, SLR – NOT DIGITAL) and must purchase appropriate film and paper to be used for this course.  Supplies for this course can be purchased through the Art Department.  The estimated cost of film and paper per semester is $85.00.

This course will allow the students to explore a variety of creative techniques using fundamental camera knowledge and darkroom processes learned in Photography I and II.  Knowledge of how to use the camera and lights will be expanded to understand how to create portraits using studio lighting.  The alternative printing processes of Cyanotype and toning will be taught.  Students will have the opportunity to use a Holga camera to learn a medium format film – processing the film and printing photographs from the film.  Print sizes for projects may range from 2”x3” to 16”x20”.  As in Photography II, students will critique selected works of noted photographers.
